Pin Oak is an elegant, fast-growing tree that can grow up to 24 inches a year. It has beautiful dark green leaves in the summer and breathtaking red fall. The Pin Oak is highly prized for its brilliant fall display!
Even in the winter, the Pin Oak stands out. The bark is particularly attractive, as is the case with all Oak trees. The highest branches are held upright while middle branches remain horizontal. Lowest branches hang down, sweeping away from the trunk making this tree a gorgeous specimen to look at even after it drops its leaves.
Pin Oak is one of the most popular Oaks with its tightly pyramidal form, highly prized fall colour and minimal maintenance needs. When it is young lower limbs can be pruned in late winter to keep limbs off the ground and create desired space.
Sometimes called Swamp Oak, the Pin Oak can tolerate quite wet conditions and is generally adaptive to a variety of soil types.
