This variety is a very early blooming cultivar; the crimson single cup flowers surround the bright yellow stamens and the finely cut foliage adds an elegant texture. It takes on a rounded form unlike other upright Peonies. The flower stalks can be weak and so it may require staking in exposed sites or very rich soils. Cut back to 4-6" from the ground in late fall in preparation for winter.
