Smaller than the Bloodgood Japanese Maple, the Fireglow Japanese Maple is a good choice for small gardens or smaller spaces. It has brilliant red 5-lobed leaves in the spring that turn burgundy in the summer, and return to glowing red in the autumn. The leaves look especially striking when the sun shimmers through them.
The Fireglow Japanese Maple develops into a well-formed, small tree with a rounded crown. Once well-established this tree produces abundant crops of small, red maple keys (called ‘samaras’) which hang in bunches for months, giving your tree a festive look for most of the winter.
The Fireglow maple will grow at a slow rate. It prefers average to moist conditions and especially if grown in full sun, should not be allowed to dry out.
