Creeping Woolly Thyme (Thymus pseudolanuginosus) is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial groundcover prized for its soft, fuzzy texture and silvery-grey foliage. Unlike many other thymes, it is grown primarily for its appearance and tactile qualities rather than for culinary use.

Key Characteristics
Appearance: Features tiny, olive to grey-green leaves covered in fine, silky hairs that give it a distinctive "woolly" look.
Growth Habit: Forms a dense, carpet-like mat only 2–3 inches (5–8 cm) tall, spreading between 12–36 inches (30–90 cm) wide.
Flowers: Produces sparse, pale pink to lavender tubular flowers in early to mid-summer. It is generally less floriferous than other creeping thymes.
Hardiness: Hardy in USDA zones 4–9 and typically remains evergreen in mild winters.

Ideal Landscape Uses
Between Pavers & Stepping Stones: Its low profile and tolerance for moderate foot traffic make it ideal for softening hardscapes.
Rock & Alpine Gardens: Thrives in the well-drained, lean conditions of rocky environments.
Lawn Substitute: Can serve as a drought-tolerant, low-maintenance alternative to grass in low-traffic areas.
Wall Spiller: Frequently used to trail over the edges of rock walls or containers.

Care and Maintenance
Sunlight: Requires full sun (at least 6 hours daily) for the densest growth and best foliage colour.
Soil: Must have excellent drainage. It thrives in sandy, gravelly, or rocky soils and will likely develop root rot in heavy clay or wet areas.
Watering: Drought-tolerant once established. Water sparingly, only during prolonged dry spells, and never let it sit in standing water.
Pruning: Lightly trim back in early spring to encourage fresh growth and prevent the center from becoming woody.
